Ocean City

Golf Guide

Real Golfer's Don't Cry when they Line up their Fourth Putt

Ocean City was once known as a beach destination, with a golf course or two on the side. Today, some say it's the opposite - a golf destination, with a beach or two on the side. Whatever you call it, Ocean City is one of the fastest growing golfing destinations on the East Coast, and it's the place to go for year-round quality golf in a region full of exciting attractions and natural beauty.

The scenic area surrounding Ocean City is just the starting point for great golf. Big name course designers like Jack Nicklaus, Jim Furyk, Arthur Hills and Pete and P.B. Dye all lent their expertise to the more than 17 championship courses in the area. They've created magnificent courses, with lush fairways surrounded by marshes, forests and inland waters. Some offer stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean, its bays and rivers. A wide range of difficulties and prices ensure every golfer-from casual to pro-can find their ideal course. If you want to try out a few courses, consider a golf package offered by several local companies or hotels and ensure you get the best deal on your golf getaway. For some practice before you embark on the first 18 holes, hit one of the many driving ranges or practice facilities in the area. Lessons and several clinics are offered as well, for first-time golfers all the way up to experts.

Rest assured when you return for lunch or dinner, you'll find impeccable facilities and obliging staff ready to make your golf day perfect-even if your scorecard isn't.

With a relatively mild winter, Ocean City golf is a year-round luxury. However, as the summer heats up, so do the golf courses. Reserved tee times are an absolute must. Almost 300,000 rounds of golf were played at our courses in 2006, up from fewer than 7,500 rounds in 1990.

In the last 10 years, Ocean City golfing has expanded so greatly, the whole nation is taking notice. In fact, Golf Digest has added several area courses to its lists of the Best Places to Play and Best New Courses. You'll also find the 4th Best Course in Maryland, one of the Top 5 in the State and the First Audubon Sanctuary Golf Course in Maryland all right here in Ocean City.

So the secret is out. Ocean City is a destination like no other, no matter if you came for the golf, the beaches, or a little bit of everything.
