As the sun descends into the Assawoman Bay, things are just beginning to heat up in Ocean City. Unwind after a long day in the sun at one of our many wonderful happy hours and then watch as the boardwalk comes alive with bright lights, and waterfront bars liven up with beach music and local bands.
Young and old will find many exciting options for evening entertainment in and around the oceanfront area. On the boardwalk, many of the attractions are open until midnight, including rides, amusement parks and arcades. Ride a rollercoaster under the light of the moon, or grab some ice cream and sit on a bench to enjoy the sounds, sights and scents of the boardwalk at night. Watch strolling couples with starry eyes as well as young adults looking for a fun night on the town walk along the historic boardwalk, as generations before them have done for years.
Live music can be heard everywhere, from small pubs to beachfront restaurants. Outdoor bars often feature a small acoustic band playing beach tunes, while other restaurants have country, rock, pop or jazz bands playing on a regular basis. Families will particularly enjoy the free concerts every Wednesday, right on the beach at North Division Street. Lay a blanket down on the sand and watch the stars take over the sky, or grab a partner and dance to beach music, jazz and more.
If dancing is your thing, there are plenty of clubs with DJs and Top 40 play lists, many with mammoth dance floors and bars with plenty of space to mingle. There are also many open-air bars and restaurants right on the docks and piers that offer laid-back evenings with live bands, drink specials and a great beach atmosphere. For some more excitement that everyone from the kids to the grandparents will enjoy, head to Ocean City's only music theater, the OC Jamboree. Amazing singers belt out memorable country, gospel, pop and rock hits and engage the audience to join along. The theater operates year-round, but be sure to call ahead for reservations.
If music isn't your thing, why not head to a local comedy club and laugh your socks off? Or hit one of the major movie theaters in and around Ocean City for the latest blockbuster.
